Reading Niall Ferguson's Empire (Part 2)

At last, I could start Chapter 1 (-p.10).   There are several interesting questions addressed by the author.  One of them is "Why were the British such good pirates?"  Good question.
In its Introduction, he said his main theme is "Anglobalization," which means globalization led by British (Anglo) (p.xxiv).  And, he introduced the main topics of his 6 chapter book as follows:

1 Commodity markets
2 Labour markets
3 Culture
4 Government
5 Capital markets
6 Warfare
Or, in rather more human terms, the role of:
1 Pirates
2 Planeters
3 Missionaries
4 Mandarins
5 Bankers
6 Bankrupts

This is a very concise and good introduction, I agree.  And, a following structure is useful.

The second chapter describes ---.  The central theme of this chapter is ---.
Chapter Three emphasizes ---.  A critical point here is ---.

So, the title of the 1st chapter is "Why Britain?"
